(a good friend of mine) a good friend of mine was a king for a day, but his empire collapsed at the cost and all was lost. and a good friend of mine said that she’d never age, but her sadness was traced, in the lines on her face. gently collapsing like sandcastles into the sea. leaving no clues as to what they would be or had been and the tears felt so wrong but she just carried on. the man in the street with the cross on his chest, says the good man shall smile and the bad never rest. so i stare at the sky and i search for a sign, but the lightning won’t strike for just once in my life. silently mouthing like sailors adrift in a storm. blindly repeating the mantras that help you feel warm and the tears feel so wrong but you just carry on. and i’m on the side, of god and the aeroplanes. i reach for the skies, see god and the aeroplanes and they never change. they come every day. but not today. slicing the ropes and preparing to swim or be damned. you strike for the shore and the castles you left in the sand. though you try you go down, slowly drown. and you reach, try to scream but this time it’s not a dream. but i’m on the side, of god and the aeroplanes. i reach for the skies, see god and the aeroplanes. and they never change. they come every day. but not today.
